This study examined the relationship between transition in volunteering activity and physicaland psychological health outcomes among older adults in Korea. This study utilized the 3waves(2006, 2008, and 2010) of a Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging from the Korea LaborInstitute including 4,326 older adults aged 55-74. This study categorized volunteer activity overtime into 5 categories and used generalized estimation equation(GEE) to examine the relationshipbetween volunteer transition group membership and health outcomes. The results showed thatengaging in any volunteering including continuous volunteering, discrete volunteering, activeto-inactive volunteering, and inactive-to-active volunteering, was partly and significantly associatedwith better physical and psychological health outcomes compared with the nonvolunteering group. More research is needed to explore the mechanism behind older people``s trajectory in volunteerengagement.
